Rachel Ong Dimagiba, M.Ed. Independent Certified Baby Signs® Instructor
My son Phoenix was born in May 2002. I started to use Baby Sign Language when Phoenix was 6 months old. He started to sign back to me at 10 months of age, although his recognition of signs occurred much earlier. At 18 months of age, he used 100 signs to proudly communicate his needs and observations, express his emotions and share his world with me. Now 5 years old, Phoenix is a verbal and articulate child, speaking at a language level well above his peers. I first met Baby Signs® co-author Dr. Susan Goodwyn at the University of California Davis, where I earned my B.S. in Human and Child Development. I received my M.Ed. in Counseling from the University of San Diego and spent many years working in the field of Vocational Rehabilitation. Devoting myself to Motherhood has been my most rewarding endeavor. I am excited to share the benefits of Baby Sign Language with others as it has enriched our lives truly beyond words. Baby Sign Language provides a window into the mind of a child and allows us to appreciate how smart babies are at a very young age. I began teaching parent education workshops in July 2003. I am honored to have met so many lovely families through teaching and sharing my passion about Infant Sign Language.
